*Just A Little Shimmer
I’m probably getting a little too old for this, but I must confess that I still love cosmetics that feature a little shimmer. Maybe this, along with my affinity for all things Hello Kitty and Spongebob Squarepants, is just another another excuse for me to delay the process of growing up. Whatever the reason is, I’m going to continue wearing shimmery and (slightly) glittery products for at least a few more years.
One product that recently caught my eye is the new
e.l.f. Studio Shimmer Sheets. Each pack contains twenty shimmery sheets that you can gently press over your eyelids, cheekbones, decollete, arms, legs, wherever! You’ll get a little bit of shimmery color that’s perfect for day or night- and it won’t make you look like you’re trying to hard to recapture your youth. The sheets come in four shades, check them out below.
Each shimmer sheet package retails for $3.00 a pop- so pick your favorite shade today and click the link below to shop.

Pamper Your Pout
Dry lips are never chic. Soften up your pout with Maybelline Baby Lips. It’s a luxurious moisturizing lip balm with a hint of color, SPF 20, and hydrating formula that lasts for eight hours. I think the best thing about this lip balm is that long-term use of this visibly renew your lips.
The lip balm comes in six different shades varying from clear to pale peach- you can check out the entire color chart below.
You can purchase Maybelline Baby Lips balm for just $2.97 at Walmart.
Swerve Sweetener & 20% Off Coupon
I don’t normally write about food, especially since this is a beauty/fashion blog but since I’m trying to add a little diet and fitness news to my blog’s repertoire, I figured I should do post about a diet-friendly sweetener.
JSYK:This is not a paid post nor am I receiving anything from this post. If I was, I would post a disclaimer. Awhile back, I must have requested a free sample of Swerve Sweetener because I recently got a letter in the mail with a single sample of this sweetener and a coupon.
Swerve in an all-natural sweetener that has absolutely no calories and no gluten, it’s also kosher certified. It contains no stevia or lo han guo. For those of us who are looking for a healthy sugar substitute, Swerve fits the bill. It adds a little bit of sweetness to anything you put it in but it’s definitely not overpowering. I added it to my iced tea for a special treat but you could add it to cappuccino, cake, parfaits, brownies, whatever you want. Check out their official website for fabulously chic recipes like Mocha Fudge Cookies and Bread Pudding
Want to try Swerve? Check out their mini shop to purchase their products for yourself. Don’t forget to apply the coupon code SWEET20 to save 20% off your order. If you spend $25 or more, you’ll also get free shipping. Isn’t life sweet?
Happy Valentine’s Day Y’all

I just wanted to send a brief Happy Valentine’s Day message to all my readers! I was originally going to post a really cool e-card on this blog but I couldn’t find one that I could just copy and paste, but this cute clip-art letter works great instead.
Don’t forget to check out my new website Crazy Amazing Deal Blog for fantastic sales, freebies, cool buys, and more.
2012 Grammy Red Carpet Fashion Roundup
Video courtesy of US Magazine If you don’t see it on the front page, please click the title and it will lead you to the page with the video.
Confession time! I did not watch the 2012 Grammy or the Red Carpet coverage show last night, and truthfully I have not watched any award show since the late 1990s, but that doesn’t mean that I’m not catching up with the big night’s most notable moments. I love music and fashion just as much if not moreso than the next girl. Unfortunately, I don’t have the money to purchase high quality images from last night’s show but I’ve got a video for you above that you can check out.
First off, I want to say that I’m still heartbroken that we lost one of music’s biggest legends the evening prior to the 2012 Grammys. I grew up listening to Whitney Houston and I loved her songs, so I’m still reeling over this news. I also hope her daughter Bobbi Kristina can find the strength to carry on.
Back to the lighter news, I’m so glad Adele won, Jessie J sparkled, and Whitney was remembered. That night we had not only had a lot of fashion hits and misses, we also has a lot of questionable looks(what was up with Fergie’s see-through orange dress and what was Nicki Minaj thinking with her red hooded dress?). Let’s dissect the night further….
The Best: IMO, Jessie J’s gown was hands down the best look of the night! She simply sparked in a silver Julien MacDonald gown! I also loved how she kept her entire look simply understated with a high ponytail and simple makeup. Adele also looked gorgeous that night with a black Giorgio Armani gown complete with a boat-style neckline and three-quarter sleeves. Other winners that night include Katy Perry(who donned a dreamy blue crochet Elie Saab gown), Lady Gaga(anyone who can wear a custom-design black fishnet Versace dress receives props in my book), and Kelly Rowland(who wore a formfitting Alberta Ferretti peach gown complete with an embellished bodice).
The Worst: I like Carrie Underwood but I really didn’t like her fashion choice for that night. The Gomez-Garcia gown she wore that night looked more like an oversized over-embellished pillowcase as it didn’t flatter her figure. Other disappointed fashion choices that night came from Rihanna(her Giorgio Armani gown was pretty but too revealing) and Taylor Swift(the fabric of her Zuhair Murad gown is kind of). Check out the video above from US Weekly for full red carpet coverage.
Questionable Looks: The two most questionable looks of last evening came courtesy of Black Eyed Peas’ frontwoman Fegie and Nicki Minaj. Fegie’s see-through Jean Paul Gaultier show’s the singer’s undergarments- tres tacky. Minaj’s red hooded monstrosity(a Versace gown with a strange beaded face design on the front) stole the show from Gaga with the most bizarre getup of the night yet she didn’t quite pull the look with such aplomb.
Did you catch the 2012 Grammys or the red carpet coverage last night? Which celebrity sported your favorite look?

A Blast From the Past and the Future of Shop In Chic
It’s now February 2012 and a lot has happened since I first started my Shop In Chic blog back in February 2008. The whole reason I started this blog was because I wanted to make a webzine/magazine about fashion and I thought that a blog would be close enough to that dream. Today, I’ve sorta abandoned my blog and that really makes me a little sad. In the last two years I’ve had so much going on in my life, mostly personal stuff I don’t really want to talk about, that it was kind of easy to forget about my dreams. I would also remind myself over and over again that I would eventually get back to my regular blogging habits but as soon as I would get the energy to start the revival process, something would happen to disrupt my success.
This time, I’m really going to make an effort to change all that. I love blogging, it gives me real energy and a lot of joy. I’d also like to make some money with it, but that is not the whole reason I blog.
Starting today, I’m going to put more of my energy and time into my blog. I’m going to use Shop In Chic to write about fashion, beauty, celebrity style, shopping, and fitness. I’m also going to use this blog to share my progress as a blogger in hopes that this will motivate me more.
So, please keep reading Shop In Chic and enjoy! If you have any questions or you’d just like to connect, look below.
